Nature Programs for Children

Nature for Tiny Tots

(2 - 3 year olds with parent)
9:30-10:15 am or 10:45 - 11:30 am
Through stories, activities, walks and crafts, children will explore various nature topics with their parent. The class will meet each Tuesday for eight weeks beginning September 7. Reservations required. $69 for eight classes.

Science Series for Home Schools

(6 to 9 years), 1:30-3pm. During this six-week series, explore marsh, meadow, and forest to learn about a wide range of science topics: patterns of cycle and change, plant parts and characteristics, animal life needs, observation and the five senses, and how objects are classified. Students must have good reading and writing skills and be comfortable working in a group. Reservations required. $42
Wednesdays: September 22 and 29, October 6, 13, 20, and 27.

American Indian Seed Pot Storage

(9 to 12 years), 10-noon. During this three-part series, children make clay slab pots, decorate them, then remove seeds from vegetables for drying and storing in their pots, while learning about the importance of this annual task to American Indians. $5 supply fee due to instructor at first class. Meets on Saturday, October 16, 23, and 30. Reservations required. $40

Teen Night Hike

(12-16 yrs.), 6:30-8pm. Hike the park after dark with naturalist Kathi McNeil. Look for hunting bats, gnawing beavers, and listen for owls, while enjoying snacks. Canceled if rain. Reservations required. $6

Fly Tying

(12 yrs. and up), 12:30-2pm. Learn the beautiful art of tying your own fishing flies from naturalist and angler Suzanne Malone. Reservations required (a supply fee will be due to your instructor at the beginning of class). $12
