Join Park Manager Kevin Munroe on a walk. Share questions and concerns about the Park and look for the wildlife for which the Park is known. Reservations required. FREE

Dragonfly Walk
(Adults), 1-3pm. Walk the boardwalk with dragonfly expert Kevin Munroe to learn about these colorful wetland acrobats. Cancelled if rain. Reservations required. $6

Sunday, September 13
Off-trail Birding at South King's Highway
(Adults), 7-10am. At this time of year the last wave of neotropical migrants are moving through and the first wintering visitors are arriving. Binoculars and field guides are recommended. Meet at the park's South King's Highway and Telegraph Road entrance. Reservations required. Cancelled if rain. FREE

Birding for Beginners
8-11 a.m. Interested in birding? We can get you started! Learn about the birds in the park and some basic identification skills. Program begins in the Visitor Center parking lot. Reservations required. $2.

Fall Birds and Bagels
8-11 a.m. Enjoy an early morning walk in search of resident and migrating birds, then relax and recap the sightings during a continental breakfast at the Visitor Center. Binoculars and field guides are
recommended. Reservations required. $6.

Sunday, October 5
Introduction to Fly Fishing
(14 years and up) 11-2:30 p.m. Bring your own fully-rigged rod and reel, or rent one form the instructor, and learn casting, knots, tackle, and gear, fly selection, and how to read the water. Supply fee of $5 to the instructor. Reservations required. $50.

Connections-Art Show Reception
2-4 p.m. Meet painter and printmaker Lyndia Terre at the opening of a retrospective show to benefit Becca's Ark Animal Rescue and Huntley Meadows Park. FREE

Birding for Beginners
8-11 a.m. Observe the transition of our bird community as the summer breeding population moves south and winter residents arrive. A park naturalist will help you sharpen your bird identification skills. Meet in the Visitor Center parking lot. Reservations required. $2

Owl Outing
4:30-6:30pm. Learn about the secret lives of the park’s resident owls. Following the slide presentation, take an off-trail walk in search of these nocturnal birds of prey. Sponsored by FOHMP. Reservations required. Cancelled if rain. $6

Birding for Beginners
8-10:30am Winter is a great time to begin birding. Program starts with a discussion about field guides and optics then we'll walk to look for resident birds. Reservations required. $6

Saturday February 7
Drummers and Drillers
9:30am-11:30am As they drum and drill on trees, woodpeckers are ridding our yards and woodlands of ants, wasps, and grubs. Watch a variety of woodpeckers on the park's suet feeders, learn how to attract them to your yard, and hopefully glimpse a flicker on its mission to eat a thousand insects in a day! Reservations required. $6

Saturday February 14
Winter Tree Trek
1pm-3:30pm Explore the winter woods to develop your tree identifying skills. Learn to use a tree key, then take your own copy home to use for your future investigations. Reservations required. Cancelled if rain. $6
