New! Science Series for Home Schools
Thursdays: September
24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.
(Students), 1:30-3pm. During this six-week series, explore
marsh, meadow, and forest to learn about a wide range
of science topics: ecosystems, natural resources, vertebrate
classification, the food web, rocks and minerals, plant
and animal adaptations (learning level is based on Fairfax
County public schools' fourth grade competencies). Students
must have good reading and writing skills and be comfortable
working in a group. Reservations required. $40

Teen Night Hike
(12-16 yrs.), 6:30-8:30pm. Hike the park after dark with
naturalist Kathi McNeil. Look for hunting bats, gnawing
beavers, and listen for owls, while enjoying snacks. Cancelled

Fly Tying
(12 yrs. and up), 12:30-2pm. Wooly buggers and hare's
ear nymphs, oh my! Learn the beautiful art of tying your
own fishing flies from naturalist and fisherwoman Suzanne
