New! Nature for Tiny Tots
(24-36 months), 10-10:45am. During this eight-week series, parents explore marsh, meadow, and forest to experience nature with their two-year old children. Reservations required. $65 for eight Tuesdays

Young Explorers - Beavers
(6-9 yrs.), 3:15-4:30pm. Learn about Huntley Meadow's furry engineers through a discussion, an activity, and a walk to the wetland. Reservations required. Canceled if rain. $4

Nature Detectives - Beavers
(3-5 yrs.), 10-10:45am. Learn about our furry engineers through an activity and a craft. Reservations required. $6

Thursday, September 24
New! Science Series for Home Schools
Thursdays: September 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.
(Students), 1:30-3pm. During this six-week series, explore marsh, meadow, and forest to learn about a wide range of science topics: ecosystems, natural resources, vertebrate classification, the food web, rocks and minerals, plant and animal adaptations (learning level is based on Fairfax County public schools' fourth grade competencies). Students must have good reading and writing skills and be comfortable working in a group. Reservations required. $40

Friday, October 16
Teen Night Hike
(12-16 yrs.), 6:30-8:30pm. Hike the park after dark with naturalist Kathi McNeil. Look for hunting bats, gnawing beavers, and listen for owls, while enjoying snacks. Cancelled if rain. Reservations required. $5

Sunday, October 18
Fly Tying
(12 yrs. and up), 12:30-2pm. Wooly buggers and hare's ear nymphs, oh my! Learn the beautiful art of tying your own fishing flies from naturalist and fisherwoman Suzanne Malone. Reservations required. $12

Monday, October 19
Young Explorers - Coyotes and Foxes
(6-9 yrs.), 3:15-4:30pm. Have a howling good time while learning about these graceful hunters through a discussion, an activity, and a walk in the woods. Reservations required. Cancelled if rain. $4

Wednesday, October 21 or Thursday, October 22
Nature Detectives - Pumpkinfest
(3-5 yrs.), 10-10:45am. Bring a small pumpkin to decorate and celebrate the season in style. Through a story and an activity, enjoy the wonders of autumn. Reservations required. $6

Saturday, October 24
Teen Service Program
(13 yrs. and up), 9-11:30am. For teens needing community service work hours, get some exercise and sunshine helping maintain the park. Reservations required. Cancelled if rain. $10

Thursday, November 12
Nature Detectives - American Indians
(3-5 yrs.), 10-10:45am. Learn about American Indians who lived in this area 500 years ago, through an activity, and a craft. Reservations required. $6

Nature Detectives - Holiday Crafts
(3-5 yrs.), 10-10:45am. Listen to a winter tale, and then make a holiday ornament. Reservations required. $6
