Café Cattail
(Families), 7-9:30 pm. End your busy week with relaxing, nature-inspired music, poetry, and dance at this popular open-mike coffeehouse. Reservations required for performers only. FREE

Saturday, September 26
Fall Birds and Bagels
(Adults), 8-11am. Enjoy an early morning walk in search of resident and migrating birds, then relax and recap the sightings during a continental breakfast at the Visitor Center. Binoculars and field guides recommended. Sponsored by the Friends of Huntley Meadows Park (FOHMP). Reservations required. $8

Park Manager Walk and Talk
(Adults), 4-6pm, Huntley Meadows Visitor Center, 703-768-2525. Join Park Manager Kevin Munroe on a walk to share questions and learn about the wildlife for which the park is known. Reservations required. FREE

Saturday, October 3
Birding for Beginners
(Adults), 8-11am. Interested in birding? We can get you started! Learn about the birds in the park and try out different optics. Program begins in the parking lot. Reservations required. $6

Saturday, October 10
Night Walk
6:30-8:30pm. Walk through the woods to the wetland with naturalist PJ Dunn, looking for hunting bats and working beavers. Cancelled if rain. Reservations required. $6

Sunday, October 18
Art Show Opening
2-4pm. Meet Arizona painter and sculptor James Strohmeyer at the opening of his one-month show. Refreshments. FREE

Park Manager Walk and Talk

Sunday, November 22
Birding for Beginners
8-11am. Observe the transition of our bird community as the summer breeding population moves south and winter residents arrive. A park naturalist helps you sharpen your bird identification skills. Meet in the parking lot. Reservations required. $6


Saturday, December 5
Owl Outing
4:30-6:30pm. Learn about the secret lives of the park's resident owls. Following the indoor presentation, take an off-trail walk in search of these nocturnal birds of prey. Sponsored by FOHMP. Reservations required. Cancelled if rain. $6

Huntley Holiday Happening
1-4pm. Looking for something special for the nature-lover on your list? Enjoy an afternoon of shopping with a 10% discount on merchandise during the event, yummy treats and holiday crafts. FREE

Photography Contest Opening
2-4pm. Enjoy this year's winning entries from the Friends of Huntley Meadows' annual photography contest. Sponsored by FOHMP. FREE

Saturday, January 9
Birding for Beginners
(Adults), 8-10:30am. Winter is a great time to begin birding. Program starts with a discussion about field guides and optics then we'll walk to look for resident birds. Reservations required. $6

Saturday, February 6
Drummers and Drillers
9:30am-11:30am. As they drum and drill on trees, woodpeckers are ridding our yards and woodlands of ants, wasps, and grubs. Watch a variety of woodpeckers on the park's suet feeders, learn how to attract them to your yard, and hopefully glimpse a flicker on its mission to eat a thousand insects in a day! Reservations required. $6

Saturday, February 13
NEW! Naturally Sweet
1pm-3pm. Celebrate Valentine's weekend in a natural way. Take a stroll with a naturalist through forest and meadow, then warm up with a pastry and hot beverage at popular coffeehouse Grounded Coffee. Meets at the South king's Highway entrance. Reservations required. $10
